10 Payment System Operator(PSO) and 27 Payment Service Provider(PSP) have received license from Nepal Rastra Bank to operate in Nepal.
In a namelist published by NRB today, 7 national PSO and 3 internation PSO have received license to operate in Nepal. Among the PSOs, Nepal Clearing House Limited has the largest paid up capital of Rs 411 million. Similarly, Smart Choice Technologies is second largest PSO in term of paid capital. It’s paid up capital is Rs 375 million.
Other PSO operating from within Nepal are Nepal Electronic Payment System, Nepal Payment Solution, Fone Pay Payment Service, Firstpay Technology and Gateway Payment Service. Visa Worldwide and Mastercard Asia/Pacific from Singapore and Union Pay International from Sanghai China are remaining 3 PSO who have obtained license to operate in Nepal.
Among PSP’s wallets and applications, Namaste Pay of Nepal Digital Payments Company is the largest PSP in terms of paidup capital with Rs 400 Million paid up capital. Other notable PSP’s wallets and apps that have taken license to operate in Nepal are Esewa, IMEPay and Prabhu Pay.
