Landslide Compels Pilgrims To Take Alternate Route To Gosaikunda

An alternative route has been managed after the Rasuwa section along the Pasang Lhamu Highway got disrupted by a landslide.

The landslide occurred at the Majhgaun-Banuwa Ghumti on Tuesday night disrupted the highway and now a route from Aambhanjyang Simle to Dharapani area via Taruke has been used as the alternative arrangement.

According to Rasuwa’s chief district officer Nawaraj Jaisi, technical team assessed that it might take time to restore the damaged route and that’s why a rural road towards Taruke was chosen for vehicular movement.
However, the alternative route is narrow and congested. So, only light vehicles like jeep, car and motorcycles are preferred for riding.

Pilgrims to Gosaikunda were facilitated to reach the destination via alternative route. Gosaikunda, country’s one of the famous religious sites, draws a large number of devotees to take a holy dip in the freshwater lake on the day of Janai Purnina which is being celebrated tomorrow, Friday.
The disruption at Banuwa section has hampered import from China. Cargo vehicles en route to Nepal from China have been halted midway.

The District Administration Office Rasuwa is learnt to have already urged Road Division Office to take measures for restoring the route for the convenience of trans-border trade. The landslide hit areas lacks space for division and it is estimated to take at least one month to build a gabion wall there.
