Pubudu Dassanayake has resigned from position of head coach of Nepali men cricket team.
Dassanayake, whose tenure with Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) would have lasted till December of 2023, has resigned from the post owing to personal reasons. In a press met organized today, Dassanayake announced his resignation. He had already informed CAN about his resignation a week ago.
Nepali cricket has not been performing well since a while which could be a major reason for Pubudu’s withdrawal. Recent failure in ICC Cricket World Cup League Two 2019-23 means Nepal’s ODI status is also in danger. Also speculations are being made about dessensions within national team with captain Sandeep Lamichhane’s ocassionaly giving hints through social media.
Dassanayake joined the team when captainship was taken away from former captain Gyanendra Malla and Lamichhane was appointed as new captain. Malla is not able to make place in national team since then.
