A minor has filed a rape case against Nepali cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane.
District Police Office Kathmandu has received a complaint lodged against Lamichhane that mentions a rape accusation, Rabindra Singh Dhanuk, AIG of DPO informed. According to police, 17 year old girl has filed a complaint of rape against Lamichhane and is currently under police protection after undergoing medical checkup.
As per the filed complaint, Lamichhane met with her through social media being a fan of celebrated cricketer himself. On August 17, one night before Nepal left for bilateral series against Kenya, Lamichhane insisted for visiting Nagarkot and performed sexual abuse after getting drunk, the complaint mentions according to police source. Further details on the matter will be revealed soon as per police.
Lamichhane is currently in Saint Lucia playing Caribbean Premier League for Jamaica Tallawahs. Nepali Laws consider any sexual act against a minor as guilty of rape.
