Kathmandu Metro has unveiled a bugdet of Rs 25.41 Billion for the fiscal year 2079/80.
Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol presented the budget at 11th meeting of metro’s city assembly on Friday. Metro has allocated almost half of bugdet for insfrastructure development amounting to slightly more than Rs 11 billion. Similarly, another major chunk of budget went to operating and administration expenses amounting to 4.68 bn.
1.62 bn has been allocated to social development program while metro will spend rs 4.46 billion for good governance program. Deputy Dangol also announced that the metro will actively prioritize on conserving art and culture of city. She informed that the metro will primarily focus on conserving temples with historical and archeological importance. Dangol also announced that the budget allocated to wards will be doubled this fiscal year.
Other important programs like operating electric public transportation, restoration of Dabalis, physical infrastructure development in public schools, energy generation from waste, fire brigade station in various places are also notably mentioned in budget.
