Nepal imported goods worth Rs 131 billion in the first month of fiscal year 2079/80.
Among there imported goods, 10 products covered more than one third of total amount incurred for import. Petroleum products topped the import chart with 8.98 billion spent on diesel, 6.38 billion on petrol and 5.27 billion on LP Gas. Along with these three major imports, soyabean oil also listed itself in top four imported goods with total import figure of 6.18 billion rupees.
Similarly crude palm oil worth 4.18 billion, steel worth 3.66 billion and iron worth 3.24 billion has been imported during this period. Covid jabs worth 2.79 billion has also been imported within Shrawan month.
Mobile phones is another notable imported item with 2.57 billion rupees spent within just one months. Although government has banned import of mobiles huge sum of money is still spent on import of mobile phones. Urea fertilizer is also among top ten items with highest import turnover. 2.07 Billion is spent on import of urea during one month.
