Cholera Confirmed In 2 Children In Kathmandu

Two more cases of cholera have been detected in Kathmandu with two boys of 4 and 6 years infected.

Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) has informed that the cholera has been confirmed in two boys of Kageswari Manohara. Till now 19 cases of cholera has been detected in Kathmandu, out of which 3 are children below 14 years of age. Out of 19, 3 cases are from Kageswari Manohara region, 2 each from Bagbazar and Kalimati.

Similarly single cases are detected in Sanepa, Dillibazar, Bohoratar, Balkhu, Kapan, Naikap, Koteshwor, Thankot, Kalanki, Gwarko, Teku and Kirtipur. Out of total confirmed cases, only one case is getting treatment at hospital now. A pregnant woman is getting treatment now, while remaining have already recovered, source from EDCD informed.

Wide spread cases means there could be a possibility of outbreak as traces of E.coli and coliform is seen in water from well and taps, water tankers and even in jar water. Health officials have requested public to drink water only after treatment like filtering,  water chlorination and boiling.
