Kathmandu Traffic Fines More Than 2 Thousand In A Single Day Operation

More than 2 thousand drivers and riders were fined by traffic police on a single day operation at nation’s capital, Kathmandu.

Traffic police informed that 2,317 traffic rules offenders were fined on various places of Kathmandu valley on Thursday. Among those offenders, most of them failed to submit driving documents while 180 parked their vehicles on footpath, 108 were drunk driving, 107 offenders violated street lanes and 80 were fined for speeding. Similarly 96 drivers were fined for picking and dropping passenger randomly, 70 drivers for keeping vehicles door open, 51 offenders for violating red light and 33 drivers fined for keeping passenger over their capacity.

Kathmandu, the most populated city of Nepal, is well known for its mismanaged traffic. Small roads and heavy traffic have made driving a great challenge to public. Lack of traffic infrastructure has further added to city’s traffic conundrums while ignorant drivers have been another headache to ever increasing traffic challenge of city.
