Lalitpur Metro Bans “Panipuri”

Lalitpur metro has banned popular street food item “panipuri” from today.

Citing the ongoing cholera outbreak in various places of Kathmandu, Lalitpur metro informed that a precautionary measure has been taken. City Police is miking in streets and alleys informing about the panipuri ban today. From tomorrow punitive measures will be taken if vendors are found selling panipuri, Sitaram Hachethu, head of city police Lalitpur informed.

Panipuri is a popular street food, easily available in most sidestreets, footpaths, public open spaces throughout the nation. However, health standards are barely maintained by majority of vendors. Metro has also directed hotels and restaurants as well to stop selling panipuris.

Earlier, health ministru had concluded that the outbreak of cholera in Bagbazar of Kathmandu was caused due to unhealthy Panipuri.
