Corona virus has spread in Morang prison with 54 prisoners testing positive.
Kashiraj Dahal, Chief District Officer of Morang informed that additional 35 cases came positive in Saturday out of 48 collected swabs. 19 positive cases were reported on Friday with one probable death as well. Nir Bahadur Nepal, 39yo died due to high fever but his covid test wasn’t done. With possibility of rapid transmission, the positive cases are kept in isolation at Koshi hospital.
The positivity rate is well above 70% with 35 cases out of 48 testing positive. The capacity of Morang prison is just 300 but 1 thousand 87 prisoners are kept there. Overcrowded cells have made corona more easily transmissable.
