These 10 Products Are Banned For Import Till August

Government has extended ban on import on various item till last of August. The decreasing foreign currency reserve has compelled government to take such restrictive action since late April this year.

Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies had proposed government to impose ban on 10 items ranging from snacks to automobiles. Such ban will not be imposed to mobile items and bikes if import process has already been completed before 17 July.

These are those 10 items that cannot be imported to Nepal till the end of August:
1. Jeep, car and van excluding ambulance and hearse vans
2.Motorbikes above 150cc
3.Television above 32 inch.
4.Diamond.
5.All type of readymade liquors.
6.Kurkure, Lays and similar snack items.
7.Cigarettes and Tobacco products.
8.Toy Items
9.Playing Cards
10.Mobile set above $300.

Current foreign currency reserve is sufficient to meet import requsities of goods and services for slightly more than 6 months. However, the government has took a precautionary step to control import and maintain foreign currency reserve.
