Supreme Court has issued interim order to Election Commission to hold it’s decision to deny cow as electoral symbol to Rastriya Prajantantra Party Nepal (RPP).
A division bench of Justices Dr. Aananda Mohan Bhattarai and Dr. Kumar Chudal issued interim order not to provide cow as electoral symbol to any other parties as no dispute has arisen against RPP’s claim. Rastriya Prajantantra Party Nepal led by Kamal Thapa had applied in election commission asking for cow as their electoral symbol. EC however wrote to party refusing to provide cow as electoral symbol.
Thapa then submitted writ petition in Supreme Court against commission’s decision. SC has also ordered a full bench hearing for the case within a week.
