The 6th edition of SAFF Women’s Championship is set to be held Nepal from August 29 – September 10, 2022.
After South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) endorsed Nepal’s proposal to hold competition, Kathmandu is all set to host the regional tournament. Nepali delegation led by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) General Secretary Kiran Rai had proposed to hold the competition in mentioned date. The delegation also met SAFF General Secretary Anwarul Haq Helal in Dhaka on Friday.
The proposal was endorsed by the SAFF Executive Committee meeting prior to the SAFF Ordinary Congress 2022 which was also held in Dhaka. Tournament favourites India along with Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Srilanka and Nepal will participate in event. India has won all 5 prior tournaments while Nepal has been runner-up for 4 times.
